Arden Courts provides structured daily programs facilitated by dedicated Program Services professionals. Lifestyle programming, based on interests, hobbies and habits of a lifetime, serve as a foundation for service. Arden Courts recognizes and pairs this foundation with current cognitive and functional ability to create success-oriented programming tailored for the various stages of dementia. Arden Courts offers four distinct types in our umbrella of programming: Individual Pursuits ? are for individuals who may choose not to attend or who are cognitively unable to participate in structured group programs. These individuals may prefer to stroll outdoors, prune plants, sweep the porch, sand wood, or play word games. Individuals diagnosed with atypical dementias such as Lewy Body Dementia and Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) often benefit from individual pursuits versus large group programming. Engagement Therapy Treatment (ETT)? is a trademarked program exclusive to HCR ManorCare. Residents join together, sharing similar abilities and interests in coordinated small, structured groups like art appreciation, poetry, fun with food, crafty creations. Enjoying times together, ETT is intended for individuals in the early stage of the disease with the goal to provide shared communication in an environment where opinions and the art of storytelling are valued and honored. Lifestyle Programming ? examples include intellectual, sensory, intergenerational, physical, spiritual, community, creative and social events. Lifestyle programming is scheduled to structure the days for individuals with dementia; a place where individuals are welcomed to participate in ways that are reasonable and meaningful to them. It is inclusive and the myriad of choices are designed to entertain and involve individuals based on interests, hobbies and routines. Lifestyle programming is planned to provide structure and stimulation in an open community social setting that stimulates friendships in the moment. Namaste Care is a Hindu term meaning ?honoring the spirit within?. The Namaste Care Program engages individuals with advanced dementia with ?loving touch? in an environment that nurtures and stimulates the senses. The setting is specifically created with attention to the senses of smell, touch, taste, hearing and vision. Special care is used with scents of lavender, soft music, nature scenes, warmth, touch, hydration and nurturing. Arden Courts is the first national company to feature Namaste Care in our communities.

When we toured the Arden Courts, it was almost too locked down. It did not feel like a homey place. It was not what we were looking for.
